If you weren’t aware, there are different ways to consume beer other than drinking it. This easy and delicious Beer Bread recipe will prove it to you. With only one bowl and a spoon, you can easily make this recipe and wow your family for dinner.
I first baked this recipe when I had just met a special man who later became my husband. He only had beer in his fridge, much like most single men, and I wanted to make us dinner. With one can of beer, flour and some salt, bam! You’ve got your hands on delicious homemade bread. Needless to say, my date was surprised and I can only imagine your friends and family will be too!
The recipe is basic and you can add any flavors that you like. I added walnuts, sesame seeds and flax seeds. Olives, other nuts or some grated cheese can work great in this recipe too.
The beer that you use will affect the flavor of course so be sure to choose a beer that you actually like to drink. I used Carlsberg beer.
I never use self-rising flour because I always make sure to have baking powder and plain flour. That’s right, that’s the only difference between regular flour and self-rising flour! If you see a recipe that calls for self-rising flour and you do not have any, just use plain flour and add baking powder. (You can find more kitchen tips and tricks here.) Therefore, if you only have self-rising flour then you can use it in this recipe and omit the baking powder, it works both ways.
The recipe yields 1 loaf, although you can double the ingredients and make 2 if you want. You will need to use a loaf pan for baking the bread.
