The name of these cookies actually has a simple origin, it's derived from the tool that helps to design them – a fork. Told you it was simple! You use the fork to flatten the cookies and then they get this lovely striped pattern. I saw a video on Facebook where they dipped the fork in cocoa powder before flatting the cookies with it, which also created a nice design. I tried it on some of the cookies as you can see in the pictures.
I used to make this recipe with butter but I decided to create a vegan version so it can fit more people and occasions since it is also parve (kosher nondairy). If you do not want them vegan just switch the coconut oil back to butter.
As usual, the recipe is very easy and your kids can help you make the cookies too. They'll love getting to flatten them with the fork. Some family quality time is always nice!
