May is a special month for me and for the blog, this May the blog turns 1! Last year when I opened the blog I did not know what would happen or how it will turn out but I decided to take a leap and go for it. I learned a lot in this year and I think my skills have improved. I took online courses about blogging and read a lot. I took also photography courses and I think my pictures look better today than if I compare them to when I started. The blog started as a hobby and I still enjoy it as a hobby so I hope to continue blogging for many more years and that my audience will grow with me! I appreciate all the followers I have gained so far :)
In one year, I shared more than 50 recipes, which is a lot! I hope you enjoyed them, you can check them all on my recipe index. If you want me to share a specific recipe, tell me all about it in the comments, I want to know what you want to see more on my blog, I promise I will do my best to answer any requests!
To celebrate my blogiversary I want to share with you a spring/summer alcoholic cocktail drink - watermelon sour with thyme aroma.
In order to get thyme aroma, we need to create a sugar syrup and infuse thyme in it. To make sugar syrup you need an equal amount of sugar and water (1/2 cup of each) and you cook it on high until all the sugar is dissolved. Than you place a few branches of fresh thyme in the syrup and let it sit for 1-2 hours. Finally, you sift the syrup and it will be ready to use in any drink. You can make it ahead of time and save it in the fridge for when you mix the drink. If you want a different aroma, you can replace the thyme with other herbs you like, like basil for instance.
In addition, if you want you can change the watermelon to another fruit like red grapefruit or orange or grapes, just make sure you use fruits without seeds!
