    Healthy coffee smoothie

If you’re a coffee-lover then this recipe is perfect for you. Instead of having your regular morning coffee, whip up this delicious smoothie instead and get fully energized for the day.

Like most smoothie recipes, this one includes frozen banana. The frozen banana helps to create a creamy texture and it’s a great way to use overripe bananas. Whenever I have bananas I know I won't use it soon, I just pop them in the freezer. This way, you are always ready for your next smoothie.

Because the banana is frozen, it also cools the smoothie and you don’t need to add extra ice cubes. Of course, you can always add ice cubes if you want to, but the banana alone does the trick.

This smoothie is almost like a breakfast meal since it also includes oats. The oats make the drink more filling and for this recipe, I used quick oats (instant oats) so you can drink it right away.

It's like having overnight oats but without the overnight part.

    Coffee and banana

For the coffee, I used 1 shot of espresso that I made with my Nespresso machine, if you drink brewed coffee just use ⅓ cup of it. If you drink instant coffee than mix it with ⅓ cup water.

To sweeten the smoothie, I added 2 teaspoons of maple syrup. You can omit this if you drink your coffee without a sweetener or you can add more or less – your choice. In addition, I used almond milk. However, you can use any milk that you like, such as dairy or non-dairy.

That's it, all you need to do is blend everything together and pour it into a glass, sit back take a sip, and start your day.

This smoothie is very satisfying and refreshing especially during summer when it's too hot in the early morning already. This smoothie will give you energy thanks to the banana and oats and it’s delicious – what more could you ask for?

Tips to make your Easy Coffee Smoothie even smoother:

    Adjust the Sweetness

If you prefer your smoothie sweeter, you can increase the amount of maple syrup. Alternatively, if you're watching your sugar intake, you can reduce it or even omit it altogether.

    Coffee Variations

Experiment with different types of coffee to suit your taste preferences. You can use a shot of espresso for a strong coffee flavor, or opt for brewed coffee for a milder taste. You could even try flavored coffee for an extra twist!

    Banana Texture

To achieve a thicker and creamier texture, make sure to use a frozen banana. It not only adds creaminess but also a hint of natural sweetness.

    Oats Consistency

Quick oats work best in this recipe as they blend smoothly, but you can also use rolled oats if that's what you have on hand. Just be aware that rolled oats might result in a slightly grainier texture.

    Ice Cubes

If you prefer your smoothie extra cold and refreshing, you can add a handful of ice cubes to the blender along with the other ingredients.

    Toppings

Get creative with toppings! A sprinkle of cinnamon, a drizzle of honey, or a dollop of whipped cream can add an extra touch of indulgence to your coffee smoothie.

    Protein Boost

For an added protein boost, consider adding a scoop of your favorite protein powder. This can turn your coffee smoothie into a more substantial meal replacement or post-workout refuel.

    FAQS

Can I use regular milk instead of almond milk?

Yes, absolutely! You can use any type of milk you prefer, whether it's cow's milk, soy milk, coconut milk, or any other milk alternative.

I'm not a fan of oats. Can I leave them out?

While oats add creaminess and thickness to the smoothie, you can omit them if you prefer. The smoothie may be slightly less thick without the oats, but it will still be delicious.

Can I use instant coffee instead of espresso?

Yes, you can use instant coffee as a substitute for espresso. Dissolve the instant coffee granules in a small amount of hot water before adding them to the blender.

I don't have a blender. Can I still make this smoothie?

While a blender is the most efficient way to achieve a smooth texture, you can still make a version of this smoothie by mashing the banana and stirring all the ingredients together until well combined. Just be aware that the texture may not be as smooth.

Can I make this smoothie ahead of time?

It's best to enjoy this smoothie fresh to preserve its taste and texture. However, if you need to make it ahead of time, you can blend the ingredients and store the smoothie in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. Give it a good shake or stir before serving.

Can I add other ingredients to this smoothie?

Absolutely! Feel free to customize this recipe to your liking by adding ingredients such as protein powder, nut butter, cocoa powder, or even a handful of spinach for an extra nutrient boost.
