To date, I have shared 3 different chocolate truffle recipes and I’m excited to share another one!

Now that it’s February, we are ready to celebrate Purim. Last year, Purim was actually the last time many of us were at a party and weren’t worrying about a global pandemic. We have all been facing COVID19, and unfortunately it looks like this year’s Purim celebrations will be different too. So to spread some cheer and share a new recipe that you can indulge in, that’s also healthy, I created these Tahini Truffles.

To whip up these tasty tahini truffles, you only need 2 ingredients (plus, cocoa powder for coating). The ingredients include dark chocolate and tahini, it couldn’t be simpler. I used cocoa powder for the classic coating, you can add some sea salt flakes too. You can coat the truffles with unsweetened desiccated coconut, matcha powder, beet powder, sesame seeds, flax seeds, etc.

The process of making the truffles is not that complicated either. First, melt the chocolate. I did 30 second rounds in the microwave. Then you add the tahini, mix well and place it in the freezer to set. Then take small portions of the batter and with your hands, form balls. Roll the balls in your chosen coating and that’s it! No oven and nothing complicated. If you are looking for an afternoon activity with your kids, this will keep them busy for a while. Just be prepared to have some chocolate-covered kids though, haha!

The tahini I used is the whole tahini paste. It's made from unpeeled sesame seeds and is considered healthier. The chocolate I used is dark chocolate with 70% cocoa. The combination of dark chocolate and tahini creates a unique flavor that resembles halva but is a bit different still. These truffles are vegan and therefore parve. This treat can fit as a snack or you can wrap some and send it to a friend, I know I would be happy to get a bag of truffles!

If you want to start preparing for Purim with some hamantaschen recipes, check out my Purim recipe index.

And if you want to check out some additional truffle recipes, I have a few already: classic truffles (dairy), vegan chocolate truffles (made with coconut oil), and vegan cocoa truffles (without chocolate - only cocoa powder).

The recipe yields 16 truffles approximately – depending on the size you make them

Let's start making these tahini truffles:
