Israel turns 71 this week(!) and to celebrate, I am sharing a festive marshmallow mousse recipe to usher in Israel’s declaration of independence.
Typically during Independence Day, everyone has a giant BBQ with their family and friends, and it’s usually held outdoors to enjoy the spring weather. This year, I chose to make an easy dessert, in little cups, to keep things simple and light - no one can fully enjoy a big cake after eating a lot anyway!
My recipe is so simple it only calls for 2 ingredients, it can't be easier than that!
To make the mousse festive and patriotic, I used blue marshmallows. If you can't find any, you can also use white marshmallow and add blue food coloring. This dessert can fit the Fourth of July as well and you can layer 2 color mousse using pink and blue marshmallow. Another great and festive idea are my vegan coconut treats which I posted last year, check it out!
The dessert uses whipping cream so I made it dairy, however if you need it non-dairy then just go ahead and use non-dairy whipping cream.
For the garnish, I added little Israeli flags and blue and white sprinkles. You can decorate however fancy, like with cut fruits for example.
The marshmallows are very sweet so I didn’t add sugar to the mousse. If you do want to add sugar then use 2-3 tablespoons of powdered sugar.
Happy Israeli Independence Day! Start the easy recipe now:
